Electric & Hybrid Vehicles

Every electric or hybrid vehicle uses Lithium-ion batteries to power electric motors to drive the wheels.

In addition to the Lithium ‘drive’ batteries, auxiliary functions such as door locks, alarms and lights are powered by a conventional 12V battery. This battery is typically an AGM type located in the vehicle boot, but can also be an EFB or lithium type. These batteries do fail and will continue to provide a source of replacement battery business for the automotive aftermarket.

Our most common batteries, the 895 and 896, now have calcium added to their plates. This addition reduces water loss through charging, so both types are now sealed and maintenance free. The charge retention is also improved, which is another benefit for batteries used in seasonal applications.

Sealed batteries are becoming increasingly popular for ride on mowers and other types of garden machinery and offer additional benefits over conventional wet lead acid batteries. They are nonspillable, maintenance free, have lower self discharge and higher starting performance.

The Numax and Lucas Leisure ranges have been verified by the NCC (National Caravan Council). When you choose your leisure battery, look for the NCC Product registered and verified logo and check the category to be sure you are choosing one suitable for your caravan or motorhome needs. The NCC have verified the performance of the labelled batteries through performance testing carried out in suitable laboratories to ensure that you can buy with peace of mind.
